Fluoride
It is found naturally in ground water and sea water in low concentrations, it can also be found in plants like tea. For humans the recommended intake of Fluoride is 4mg per day. The use of Fluoride has been proven to reduce the risk of tooth decay (caries) in teeth.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have stated that low concentration Fluoride is "one of the 10 great public health achievements of the 20th century. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture "the highest level of daily nutrient intake that is likely to pose no risk of adverse health effects" specify 10 mg/day for most people.
For infants and young children the values are smaller, ranging from 0.7 mg/d for infants to 2.2 mg/d for young children. At much higher concentrations Fluoride can cause health complications and can be toxic.
The Fluoride content found in BioMin® F toothpaste does not exceed 600ppm, which is far less than conventional toothpastes. BioMin® F was featured in Oral Health Magazine regarding this new technology. Follow the link to find out how less Fluoride is actually more.
