Originating from Queen Mary University of London, our company bridges the gap between academic discovery and real-world dental care solutions.

Our Story
BioMin was founded to commercialise the research of Professor Robert Hill, a leading expert in bioglass development and its dental applications.
Our initial patents were filed in 2011 which innovatively incorporated the use of fluoride in a bioactive glass for oral healthcare, with subsequent patents granted in 2013 and 2021. Our products advance the level of protection against sensitivity and help remineralise the tooth surface.
Clinical trials have shown BioMin® F to be more effective at reducing dentine hypersensitivity than the market brand leaders Sensodyne Repair & Protect and Colgate Sensitivity Pro-Relief.
To date BioMin® toothpaste products are available in over 40 countries around the world, with significant business in the UK, Europe and Australia with a launch planned in the US. BioMin is also available as an ingredient for private label toothpaste manufacturers and through our partners we have developing businesses in India, South Africa and South America. There are also other applications either on the market or under development for use in Dental Varnishes, Adhesives and Composites.
Julian Beare, (Chairman) has been a director of the company since inception and has been Chairman since 2019. His background is in management and finance.
Alec Hilton, (CEO) joined the company early in 2022, and has over 20 years experience in sales and marketing across the oral health industry.
Robert Hill, (CSO) founder of Biomin Technologies Limited and Chief Scientific Officer; Emeritus Professor of Physical Sciences in Relation to Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London. Robert has published over 250 refereed papers and filed more than 20 patents. He is particularly known for his expertise in Bioactive Glasses and has supervised over 50 Ph.D students.
