BioMin® F showed better results that Sensodyne Repair and Protect™ in clinical assessment of hypersensitivity treatment

Method

In a single‑centered clinical trial, a total of 160 subjects were divided equally into four groups: 

Group A - 5% fluorocalcium phosphosilicate with fused silica (BioMin® F)

Group A

5% fluorocalcium phosphosilicate with fused silica (BioMin® F)
Group B - 5% calcium sodium phosphosilicate (NovaMin™*)

Group B

5% calcium sodium phosphosilicate (NovaMin™*)
Group C - Herbal formulation toothpaste

Group C

Herbal formulation toothpaste
Group D - Toothpaste containing 5% potassium nitrate

Group D

Toothpaste containing 5% potassium nitrate

The patient’s dentine hypersensitivity scores for tactile, evaporative stimuli were recorded on a visual analog scale at baseline, 2 weeks, and at the end of 4 weeks.


Conclusion

BioMin® F showed a better clinical response in relieving dentine hypersensitivity at the end of 4 weeks.

BioMin® F demonstrated significantly better results compared with NovaMin™ (Sensodyne Repair & Protect™) in treating dentine hypersensitivity.
